Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Desi n/Future: 1100 Year: 2010 Existin : 1100 Year: 2010 General Project Narrative: The purpose of this project is to replace existing bridge No. 177 on SR 1837 over Hoyle Creek in Gaston County. The existing bridge is a 3-span structure with a total length of (Description of Minimization of Water 120'9". The proposed bridge is a 3-span structure with a total length of 130'. The proposed bridge will be built in the same location as the existing bridge and maintain the Quality Impacts) existing grade. The road will be closed during construction and all traffic will be moved to an off-site detour. All storm drainage is discharged as far away from the stream as practical while maintaining existing flow patterns. Rip Rap is used to diffuse flow where applicable. Methods utilized to minimize impacts: -Fill slopes set at 2:1 -Proposed alignment placed on existing alignment to minimize additional impacts to stream -Storm drainage outlets to rip rap pad to reduce velocity and diffuse flow -Bank stabilization provided under new structure to reduce bank erosion -New design places bents out of water, eliminates one bent currently at stream's edge -Promotion of sheet flow and infiltration with grassed shoulders and swales as practical.
