Subject: CAMA Permit Application for the Corolla Bay Community Property
Anthony,
The USACE Washington Regulatory Field Office has received an application from Northeastern North Carolina
Properties Corolla Soundside, LLC, and is currently processing the action through the PGP 198000291 Process
with the NC Division of Coastal Management. The AID No. is SAW 201700335 and was received on January 23,
2017, and circulated for review to the Federal resource management agencies. To date there have been no
comments received. Mitigation is proposed through the GDSRB to compensate for the impacts to 1,581 square
feet of freshwater wetlands.
The applicant's consultant, George Wood, initially submitted an Individual Department of the Army permit
application for the same proposed work. However, this application was not considered complete in our office
and was returned to Mr. Wood for clarification purposes. Based upon further review of the proposed work and
the applicant's acknowledgement of preparing the appropriate compensatory mitigation for wetland impacts,
we determined that we could sufficiently process this project through the joint permitting process with NCDCM
Elizabeth City Field Office. Mr. Wood was advised of same and subsequently this office received the CAMA
Major Permit Application. Although the Corps did not receive the original application as complete nor circulated
any Public Notice, we can only assume that Mr. Wood sent the application to your permitting section to satisfy
the 401 requirements.
Hope this helps.
