HomeMy WebLinkAbout20081473 Ver 4_DWR Comment to Phase I report_20170223Strickland, Bev From: Merritt, Katie Sent: Thursday, February 23, 2017 2:36 PM To: Brian Hockett Cc: Higgins, Karen Subject: Arrington Bridge Phase I Hey Brian, I have finalized my review of the Arrington Bridge Phase I Monitoring Report and have the following comments regarding the Adaptive Management Work Plan: • Considering 64% plot failure for Phase 1, DWR supports RES' plan to plant supplemental planting in the low density areas. • DWR supports RES' choice to plant in May, but suggests that Fall may be more suitable to plant survival. • DWR recommends not using stems that are showing poor survivorship in your supplemental planting plan. Those stems that appear less suitable for this bank are shown in Table 3A and 3B in the monitoring report: Cherrybark Oak, Water Oak, TulipTree, River Birch. RES may select different species of hardwoods they fill may be better suited for this Bank and submit for approval prior to planting. • Encroachment issues: Please send me a .pdf of the certified letter you sent to the adjacent landowner. DWR is highly supportive of installing woven wire fencing along the perimeter of the .44 acres near Plot 8 to reduce and hopefully eliminate the continuous encroachment issues. • DWR is considering a reduction in credit with the next credit release and a final release when all remediation efforts have completed. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you, Katie
