Subject:Duke Energy Sutton Complex Treatment Unit Inclusion NC0001422
Dear Mr.McClendon,
There was an issue brought to our attention during our joint site visit to Sutton Plant on February 14
concerning what parts of the site are included in the NPDES permit. The specific area in question is the
southern dike wall of the old ash basin parallel to the northern shore of designated effluent channel and
running northwest from Outfall 001 at the main plant site towards Sutton Lake. It is the Division of
Water Resources'position that this dike wall is included as a part of the treatment system as described in
permit NC0001422. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this determination.
