Describe the treatment process(es) for the raw water: Addition of KMNO4 to aid with taste and odor problems and control the amount of iron and manganese in the water. 8. Describe the wastewater and the treatment process(es) for wastewater generated by the facility: Wastewater generated by the Kerr Lake Regional Water Plant consists of filter backwash water, water and sludge that is removed from the basins by periodic withdrawals by an in basin Sypder system and sludge and water from the quarterly basin washings. Polymer (Selfoc F1740) addition is done to aid with thickening and settling sludge. After settling, the water is decanted into Kerr Lake with turbidity being less than 25 ntus.
