Process effluent from the water lines doesn't go thru pretreatment system. Therefore, if anything is spilled goes straight thru the flume. These pH violations usually only last around 10 to 20 minutes. They have a long run from their line until it mixes with our line. We have not seen any effects from these occurrences also believe when it mixes with other flows it takes on that characteristic. Niagara also added a way to get the flow from steaming the carbon towers to a sump and pumping it thru the pretreatment system. Therefore, this should help resolve some of these pH violations.
