Subject: NPDES Application Modification Request Permitting Section
Duke Energy Progress, Inc.
Brunswick Steam Electric Plant
NPDES Permit No: NC0007064
Dear Mr. Belnick:
By submittal of this letter, Duke Energy Progress, Inc. is hereby amending the subject current
National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit application. This amendment is to add
Nalco 3D TRASAR®3DT104 to Attachment 5, of the application as well as some quantity value
updates. This chemical will be used for cooling water treatment in the cooling towers and air
wash system.
An updated Attachment 5 of EPA Form 2C, "Potential Discharges not covered by analysis" and
the Safety Data Sheet for this product are attached. We do not anticipate any permit
modification being necessary as a result of this modification of our NPDES application. We will
gladly assist should additional questions arise. A copy of the SDS and a completed biocide
worksheet is being sent to the Aquatic Toxicology Unit of DW R. If you have further questions,
please contact Mr. Shannon Langley at (919) 546-2439 or Mr. Marty McGowan at (910) 457-
2538.
I certify, under penalty of law, that this document and all attachments were prepared under my
direction or supervision in accordance with a system designed to assure that qualified personnel
properly gather and evaluate the information submitted. Based on my inquiry of the person or
persons who manage the system, or those persons directly responsible for gathering the
information, the information submitted is, to the best of my knowledge and belief, true, accurate,
and complete. I am aware that there are significant penalties for submitting false information,
including the possibility of fines and imprisonment for knowing violations.
