Subject: Please stop Alcoa from Discharging Cyanide
Dear Ms. Rodriguez,
As a North Carolina business leader and concerned citizen, I am writing to ask that NCDENR deny Alcoa's
application for a stormwater permit (#NC0004308) to discharge cyanide contaminated groundwater into Badin
Lake and Little Mountain Creek. NCDENR should require Alcoa to clean up this old, leaking landfill, not
permit discharges of hazardous chemicals into an already impaired stream. The permit as written does not
satisfy the Clean Water Act and should be denied or modified to protect Little Mountain Creek from ongoing
contamination.
Sincerely,
Steve Dollase
