Subject: Discharging of cyanide
Dear Ms. Rodriguez,
I am a concerned, voting, Stanly County citizen. I am writing to ask that NCDENR deny Alcoa's request for storm water
permit #0004308 to discharge water that is contaminated with cyanide into Badin Lake and Little Mountain Creek. DENR
should require Alcoa to clean up their discharge and not permit the discharge of these hazardous chemicals into our lakes
and streams. That is the very reason we created these laws and procedures. What is the point of having the laws in place
if we are going to ignore them?! This seems to be against the Clean Water Act and their request should be denied or
modified to protect our public waters.
Thank you for considering my comments.
Most sincerely,
Marybeth Throneburg
