Subject: Alcoa = Death
Dear Ms. Rodriguez,
Alcoa murdered me! Just spent all day yesterday screaming in a hospital because of Alcoa dumping
cyanide and other pollutants in my well water. My Dad grew up right in front of Alcoa, so I was born
with tumors. I will die because of Alcoa's negligence. I have tumors in my lungs and my liver. My body
only releases heat through on one side now, so heat exhaustion can happen anytime. I can't work. I can't
afford insurance. Doctors can't help because there's no proof Alcoa did this to me. They can't treat me as
a toxic waste victim. They think I have sarcoidosis instead. My sister died from tumors in her spine. My
older brother was born with tumors in his kidneys. My uncles died of cancer from working at Alcoa.
Please help stop this senseless murdering. Please!
Stop Alcoa from Discharging Cyanide into Our Waters NOW!
I am writing to to ask that NCDENR deny Alcoa's application for a stormwater permit (#NC0004308) to
discharge cyanide contaminated groundwater into Badin Lake and Little Mountain Creek. NCDENR should
require Alcoa to clean up this old, leaking landfill -not permit discharges of hazardous chemicals into an already
impaired stream. The permit as written does not satisfy the Clean Water Act and should be denied or modified
to protect Little Mountain Creek from ongoing contamination.
No more cyanide in Little Mountain Creek!
Sincerely,
Your name
John Garris
