Winston-Salem Suite 300 Regional Office Winston-Salem,NC 27105 Subject: Dan River Combined Cycle Station(Permit Number NC0003468) RECEIVEDINCDEQIDWR Request for movement of internal Outfall 001A Amendment to existing NPDES JUL 0 8 2016 Rockingham County Water c + Ort Dear Ms.Knight: Permkting As discussed during the meeting between Department of Water Quality Staff and Duke Energy(Duke)staff on June 8, 2016, this letter is being submitted to request movement of our current internal Outfall OO1A — Oil and Water (OWS)Separator. As part of plant maintenance, Dan River Combined Cycle Station is replacing the current OWS. The current OWS discharges through Internal Outfall 001A to the Plant Wastewater Sump. The water from the replacement OWS will discharge to the cooling tower basin as added make-up water for the Cooling Towers (see attached schematic). Duke is requesting Outfall OOIA be relocated to an inline sampling point on the discharge side of the new OWS prior to mixing with Cooling Tower Water. It is our understanding that with this amendment to the existing permit, no permit modification would be necessary and Duke is authorized to install the new OWS with the relocation of Internal Outfall 001A. We request that you confirm this understanding.
