Request for concurrence with pH adjustment
Amendment to existing and pending NPDES permit renewal application
NC0003417
Wayne County
Dear Mr. Poupart,
As discussed during the meeting between Division of Water Resources staff and Duke Energy
(Duke) staff on April 27, 2016, this letter amends our existing NPDES application under which
the plant currently operates and our pending NPDES permit application to disclose the potential
use of several products for pH adjustment. An updated list of chemicals is attached. Please
include this with the relevant permit files.
Based on discussion, it is our understanding that with this modification to the existing permit
application, no permit modification would be necessary and Duke is authorized to utilize these
additives to assure compliance with NPDES permit limits for pH are maintained. We request
that you confirm this understanding.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Mr. Shannon Langley at (919) 546-
2439 or shannon.langley@duke-energy.com.
