EASLEY DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS LYNDO TIPPETT GOVERNOR SECRETARY June 24, 2008 NCDENR/DWQ Mooresville Regional Office 610 East Center Avenue, Suite 301 Mooresville, NC 28115 SUBJECT: Proposed Pipe Replacement on SR 2173 (James Farm Road) in Iredell County Dear Ms. Sullins: Pursuant to your certified letter dated June 23, 2008, the North Carolina Department of Transportation submits a revised sketch depicting the proposed impacts associated with the pipe replacement on SR 2173. The proposed pipe will be shifted to better align with the existing active stream channel. This shift in pipe alignment will still direct the pipe outlet discharge to a small vegetated bench in the active channel; therefore, it will be necessary to remove a 5- 10 foot bench and reconstruct it along the opposite bank. A reference cross-section was surveyed -60 feet downstream to determine the "normal" stream width (3 feet). The stream channel at the pipe outlet will be constructed to maintain this surveyed width. I have enclosed revised sketches for the proposed project. NCDOT requests that the permit application be considered complete at this time. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (704) 480- 9044. Thank you for your time and consideration to this matter. Respectfully yours, M.L. Holder, P.E.
