Subject: Proposed Shoreline Refurbishment

Lake wylie
Cell 980-721-5433

Attached is my proposal to rebuild the shoreline of my property at Nutall Lane in Belmont. The
erosion is extensive and creating a problem for a number of boulders and trees on the
property. The property has three large lake front boulders. One Boulder (marked as Boulder 1
on the plan) is a vertical facing boulder that is slowly losing its support from the land.
We would like to rebuild this shoreline as soon as possible. The property is at a point and faces
south just across the lake from Browns Cove & Emerald Point and part of the Woodend
Subdivision.
The concept we have with the property is to have an all natural property with trees and I hope
to not have one blade of grass to cut (literally). The large rock we show as the shoreline rock is
small boulders from 1' to 5 feet across. It is substantial material that I found locally. We will
use a top end screen material between the rock and the construction fill dirt that will connect
the rocks to the crest of the current erosion cliff top.
We will use a medium sized 315 Excavator to move the rock onto the beach through an access
ramp of rip rap on the south side of the property (near pin F). We will load dirt behind the rock
from above using a small skid steer, rubber tired loader machine that will drop fill dirt from the
cliff top.
Before the rock is placed — we will remove all downed trees and proposed and approved trees
as described in report.
We would like to commence on this project soon since we will not have access to the beach
area with an excavator if the lake levels rise much further in the winter.
Please let me know if you need to meet and see our property or if you have any other
questions. Thanks for your consideration & expediting this request.
Regards,
DJ & Alicia Toal

Lake Wylie Shoreline project
Our building concept is to have a wooded, natural lot — keep as many trees as possible. We do
not want grass on our property — basically all natural surroundings is our overall building plan
for the property.

This is a pic of the rock that
will be used. The rock is
large — small boulders to
match other three other
larger boulders already on
the shoreline. We want a
natural looking shoreline
that shows off the boulders.

Notice the small stack of
branches on the beach —
in the middle of that pile is
a point where the rock
wall will turn toward the
North East. In this section
the erosion is not bad. The
erosion cliff is about 4 - 6
feet tall.

Between boulder 1 and 2 — there as a large cave.
During the summer of 2016 — half of this cave fell in
and erosion is considerable. Above this cave is a
large Oak. We are going to try and keep the oak and
shore up under the free with boulders and dirt inside
the cavern. The tree is in the vicinity of our future
dock — so I am concerned about its stability. But we
feel we can keep it if the shoreline is worked on
soon. I want to get this shoreline completed this
winter—since we saw much erosion this past
summer.

This pic is of Boulder 1 looking west. A small tree needs to be removed. Erosion is
considerable. A leaning tree above will also be removed. It is the largest of the proposed trees
that must be removed. This tree has underhanging roots and has had several trees around it
already fall into the lake from erosion. See on next page.

This is the tree over boulder 1 that is leaning. Roots are hanging out and it is not safe. I
recommend to remove this tree.

You can see the orange flags on the shore marking the proposed rock line. This will give the
slope on the southern side a 2:1 slope. These pies were taken today when the lake was at
95.4'.
I am open for suggestions. We have seen much erosion this past summer and many downed
trees. I am afraid Boulder 1 will start to drop soon since there is not much holding it up now. I
feel we are offering a good plan and want to keep all the trees that we possibly can. The house
faces south and we need the shade. We also believe that a natural looking property is the most
beautiful representation of lakefront property. This shoreline however needs to be addressed
ASAP — please expedite our request to shore up this property. I am available for meeting at
your convenience to discuss any questions you may have.
Thanks!
DJ Toal
