Typical Cross Section Description: Two 9-ft lanes, 3' grassed shoulders Two 8-ft lanes, grassed shoulders (width varies) Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Desi n/Future: 760 Year: 2025 Existin : 380 Year: 2010 General Project Narrative: Roadway Description: (Description of Minimization of Water The project 17BP.11.R.115 consists of replacing an existing 31-ft single span bridge with a new 45-ft, single span bridge (24-ft out to out) with Quality Impacts) vertical abutments made of galvanized steel piles and precast concrete panels. The project is in Lowgap, NC and is classified as a local road on SR-1600 (Lumber Plant Road) over Fisher River in Surry County. The total project length is 0.047 miles. The existing drainage patterns are being maintained. The project drainage system consists of concrete flumes that drain to existing drainage features. Rip rap aprons are located at the end of each flume. Stormwater runoff is being discharged as far away from the stream as practicable. Environmental Description: The project is located in Surry County in the Yadkin Pee-Dee River Basin. Fisher River is classifed as a"WS-II", "Tr", and "HQW" water. The roadway approach work is minimized as much as possible to reduce the proposed project footprint. The proposed bridge abutments are outside of the river bank limits which results in no permanent stream impacts due to the abutment location. Reforestation is planned to re-vegetate the environmentally sensitive area around the bridge site.
