Regarding the application received on November 4;
I talked with central office and feel this is the best way to resolve the issue.
Since boardwalks aren’t considered in the Catawba Table of Uses and to get back on an appropriate keel, please
complete the variance request. Note the highlighted areas of the application. Site diagram should show location of
trees, location of the boardwalk, location of the buffer/full pond elevation. Pertinent information to the project
(basically, I need a good site plan/drawing/diagram and the variance application, all the other information is fine) and
approval from the Division of Mitigation Services for the 642 sq ft of impact. Kelly Williams
(kelly.williams@ncdenr.gov, or 919-707-8915) can help you with that.
You can mail the appropriate copy to the Central office and email me a copy (all copies) as soon as it is completed. The
same can be done with Kelly, which will expedite the process. You can ask if she can expedite the process (on her end)
of approving the mitigation request, issuing an invoice, and receipt. Typically, mitigation is required prior to impact, but
I am willing to waive that requirement and issue upon issuance of the invoice.
Be advised, boardwalks aren’t considered recreational structures/access trails except in the use as public greenways.
Upon receipt of all the requested information, the application will be placed back in the “queue”.
I hope this clarifies the issues. If not give me a call.
Thanks
Alan
