On the drawing labeled SAV sketch the proposed dredge outside of the basin would result in new dredge of SAV habitat. A portion of the proposed dredge outside of the basin could be considered maintenance of the canal. A line on the drawing approximates what I would consider the end of the canal that extends from the point on the eastern side canal mouth to the point at the western side of the basin where it enters Kitty Hawk Bay. This may not provide the access desired and could result in an odd dredge footprint and bottom contour. Overall the water depths combined with the SAV presence make the area less than ideal for a boating facility. If there are more questions or discussion let me know Thanks, Shane Shane F. We have reduced the dredge depth to -2.0 feet (NWL). I have also included our SAV survey with the newly proposed dredge area overlain. Our original proposal included an access channel that we pulled from the request, however, when we did that we were left with a basin that wouldn’t connect to a corresponding water depth. The minimal area outside of the basin that we are now proposing to impact is dominated by loose organic sediments with about 35% Eurasian Milfoil coverage (as noted on the attached SAV Plan generated from our surveys we conducted this past growing season). Please take a look and let me know your thoughts. Thanks, Warren D. Eadus, P.G.
