Subject: Freshwater Mussel Survey Report for the Proposed
Replacement of Bridge No. 209 on SR 1366 (Atkins Road)
over Frank Creek, Orange County. WBS # 17BP.7.R.99
The North Carolina Department of Transportation proposes to replace Bridge No.
209 on SR 1366 (Atkins Road) over Frank Creek in Orange County. Frank Creek is in the
Cape Fear River basin. From the project, this stream flows approximately 0.7 mile until
converging with Stagg Creek. The federally endangered dwarf wedgemussel
(Alasmidonta heterodon) is listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as potentially
occurring in Orange County.
This project is located in the Cape Fear River basin. Dwarf wedgemussel has
never been found in this basin. Therefore, this project will have no effect on dwarf
wedgemussel.
Biological Conclusions: No Effect for dwarf wedgemussel for WBS # 17BP.7.R.99
