RE: Storm Water Discharge Outfall Reports
Dear Sirs:
Enclosed you will find two copies of the Storm Water Discharge Outfall (SDO)
Summary Data Monitoring Report (DMR) for the Fortress Wood Products facility
located at 3874 Bethel Dr Ext, High Point,NC 27260.
The findings attached are in response to Tier I implementation for exceeding benchmarks
for COD. The second sampling was done in an effort to rule out a sampling anomaly.
This is explained further on the Tier I response sent to you dated 6/25/13; I have also sent
a copy along with the most recent supplemental sampling results attached. Looking at
how much lower the supplemental results are on the 7/11/13 sample, I feel the results
from the 6/5/13 sample were an anomaly. The results from 7/11/13 are more along the
lines of what we should see going forward in my opinion. Since the first sample was
apparently an anomaly, I feel that the Tier I implementation for COD was premature and
wasn't needed. That being said, Fortress Wood Products is going to move forward as if
the Tier I for COD wasn't necessary and will resume normal sampling. If another sample
for COD is taken exceeding the benchmark for COD, Tier I will be re-implemented.
