Project Description — State project 176P.2.R.68 involves the replacement of an existing bridge
consisting of1 @ 17' - 9", 1@ 16' - 10", 1(� 17' - 9" timber deck spans on timber joists and is to
be replaced with a 1@ 50' - 0", 1@ 30' - 0", 21" cored slab bridge (80' total length,33' total
width) at the same location. The project also includes 0.09 miles of approach roadway
improvements. In accordance with Tar-Pamlico River Buffer Regulations, the proposed bridge
does not contain deck drains. All storm water from the bridge and approaches will be collected
by a storm drainage system and discharged into a preformed scour hole at the proposed toe of
fill. The scour hole will be outside the buffer iimits in the northwest quadrant at -Lstation13+18
LT. No wetlands are present within the project limits.
