Year Four Monitoring Report
USACE Action ID 200121094
Dear. Ms. Manuele:
We have reviewed the Year Four Monitoring Report for the above-referenced site, prepared by Soil &
environmental Consultants, P.A. (S&EC). Our comments are as follows:
The site did not achieve success for wetland hydrology in 2006. As indicated in the report, this
may have been due to below normal precipitation. However, the sites that did not meet success
criteria (F3 and F10) have been trending toward drier hydrologic regimes over the past 4 years,
which may indicate that certain sections of the site are not developing into wetland ecosystems.
In the next monitoring report:
i) Provide data detailing the maximum number of consecutive days of saturation for all gauges
in all monitoring years, and
ii) Include a copy of the site map showing the location of all gauges and monitoring stations.
• On average, the site met vegetative success, but 50% of the monitoring plots did not meet
success criteria individually. In the next monitoring report, please provide an additional table
that documents species and counts of volunteer woody vegetation in addition to planted stems.
Although not included in the stem count toward meeting success criteria, these data are valuable
in evaluating density and diversity of the developing wetland plant community.
