Austin Post Office Box 422 Aurora, NC 27806 Subject Property: Property at 32359 Hwy. 33 East Campbell Creek, Tar-Pamlico River Basin REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Dear Mr. Austin: On April 17, 2008, the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) received your CAMA major application dated February 2, 2008, to impact 0.015 acres of coastal wetlands and 0.05 acres of canal bottom for dredging, 859 square feet (ft) of fill in waters, 900 square feet (ft) of impacts by shading, and an undetermined amount of impact to protected riparian buffers for construction of proposed inland boat basin with bulkhead, boat ramp, boathouse, and pier. The DWQ has determined that your application was incomplete and/or provided inaccurate information as discussed below. The DWQ will require additional information in order to process your application to impact protected wetland, streams and/or buffers on the subject property. Therefore, unless we receive the additional information requested below, we will have to move toward denial of your application as required by 15A NCAC 2H.0506 and 2B .0233(8) and will place this project on hold as incomplete until we receive this additional information. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review your project. Additional Information Requested: 1. It is required that a full set of plans, drawn to scale, be submitted for the subject project. Plans should include overlay showing Tar-Pamlico riparian buffers. 2. It is required that plans clearly show existing water depths and proposed dredge depths. Water depths out into Campbell Creek should also be shown on plans. 3. It is required that a buffer variance be applied for and obtained for proposed impacts in the Tam-Pamlico riparian buffers. 4. This Office request that a Submerge Aquatic Vegetation (SAV) study be conducted in the area of the existing canal for presents of SAV. 5. It is requested that a history of maintenance dredging be provided for the subject canal. It is necessary that applicant be able to demonstrate Avoidance and Minimization of impacts for the subject project. Please respond in writing to the DWQ within four weeks of the date of this letter to with the requested information. If we do not hear from you within four weeks, we will assume that you no longer want to pursue this project and we will consider the project as withdrawn. This letter only addresses the application review and does not authorize any impacts to wetlands, waters or protected buffers. Please be aware that any impacts requested within your application are not authorized (at this time) by the DWQ.
