REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION
Dear Ms. Long:
On June 10, 2008, Mr. Eric Kulz and Mr. Chad Coburn of the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) met
with Mr. Steve Blanchard of Jim Blanchard Associates at the project site located off of Lee Road in
Kenansville, NC to discuss the proposed stream stabilization and impact to 493 linear feet of stream as
mentioned in the Pre-Construction Notification (PCN) received by the DWQ on May 5, 2008. The DWQ has
determined that your application was incomplete and/or provided inaccurate information as discussed
below. The DWQ will require additional information in order to process your application to impact
protected wetlands and/or waters on the subject property. Therefore unless we receive five copies of the
additional information requested below at the DWQ central office, we will have to recommend moving
towards denial of your application as required by 15A NCAC 2H .0506 and will place this project on
hold as incomplete until we receive this additional information. Please provide the following
information so that we may continue to review your project.
Additional Information Requested:
1. Revise the PCN to reflect any changes to the proposed impacts as discussed during the site visit.
In areas where buildings or other structures are not jeopardized, please redesign the proposed
stabilization activities to employ nature channel design in place of gabion walls.
2. Submit updated plan sheets reflecting the changes discussed during the site visit.
Please respond within 30 days of the date of this letter by sending this information to me in writing and
five copies to Ian McMillan, 401 Wetlands Unit, 2321 Crabtree Blvd, Raleigh, NC 27604-2260. If we
do not hear from you within 30 days, we will assume that you no longer want to pursue this project and
we will consider the project as withdrawn.
