REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION: STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
Dear Mr. McBride:
On December 13, 2007, the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) issued a 401 Water Quality
Certification to fill 0.154 acre of isolated wetland in order to construct the subject fuel station in
Mecklenburg County. In order to meet Condition 3 of the 401 Certification for ibis project, a
atovnwatcr management plan, dated January 15, 2008. was received by the DWQ on January 16,
2008. The DWQ has determined that vour stmrrlwater management plan was incomplete as
discussed below.
Additional Information Requested:
1. Please address the following issues with the btotutentron area design-
Appropriate slopes on the underdrainpipes need to be specified.
b. An appropriate P-index of 10 to 30 needs to be specified for the soil media.
2. Please provide the Required Items Checklist (the second page of the Bioretention
Supplement Form) and Check to be sure that all of the required items were included in the.
January 16 submittal. The soils test is not requited in this case due to your decision to
use underdrains.
3. The ability of the bioretcntion area to overflow properly is dependent upon the propn
functioning of the adjacent dry detention pond. Please provide the following information
about the dry detention pond:
a. Calculations for sizing.
b. Routing of flow through the detention pond,
e. Design details and a cross-section.
d. A signed and notarized Operation and Maintenance Agreement.
