Hi, Tracy!
I wanted to send a follow-up to the Roquist site visit on 4/17/08. The site appears
to be very successful overall, with a large area of mature forested wetland
communities now in preservation. The only problem noted at the visit was high tree
mortality on the restored spur road in the eastern part of the site. Last year's
drought made tree establishment difficult in many places, and may have played a role
at Roquist, or you may have ideas about site conditions that need to be addressed.
Hopefully, the issue can be remedied over time in order to achieve success as the
monitoring period continues.
I look forward to seeing the restoration areas develop over time. It's great to
have such a large wetland area protected in perpetuity. Feel free to contact me
about the site at any time.
Warm regards,
Tammy
