Subject: Peddler's Square
Patrick,
Here are the comments that I sent out regarding the stormwater plan for
Peddler's Square:
1. The DWQ does not recommend the use of three separate stormwater
wetlands in series due to the risk of embankment failure between
the systems. If possible, please combine the three stormwater
wetlands into a single, properly designed stormwater wetland. This
may involve reconfiguring the wetland so that the stormwater does
not undergo such a significant elevation change as it flows
through the wetland.
2. Please provide a soils report that verifies that the level of the
seasonal low water table is at 2940.0 fmsl. If the water table is
truly at that level, wetland number three will need to be
redesigned because the embankment elevation at the outlet of this
wetland is only at approximately 2937.75 fmsl.
3. The proposed orifice diameter of eight inches is oversized and
will result in a drawdown rate of much less than two days. Please
resize the orifice for a two to five day drawdown rate.
4. The planting plan that has been provided does not meet the
requirements listed in Item 4 of the Required Items Checklist.
Please provide a planting plan at a 1" = 20' scale that shows the

sizes, spacing and locations of plantings, the total quantity of
each type of plant specified, a planting detail, the source
nursery for plants, as well as fertilizer and watering
requirements to establish vegetation.
5. Please provide an up to date Wetland Operation and Maintenance
Agreement (available at:
http://h2o.enr.state.nc.us/su/bmp fora*„s.htm). This form must be
signed and notarized.
Let me know if you have questions.
