NOTICE OF A COMBINED PUBLIC HEARING FOR THE PROPOSED
INTERCHANGE AT US 74 / NC 130 (ANDREW JACKSON HIGHWAY)
AND NC 242 (HAYNES LENNON HIGHWAY) NEAR EVERGREEN
TIP Project No. R-4900
Columbus County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold an
Informal Combined Public Hearing on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, between the
hours of 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Elementary School Cafeteria,
7211 Old 74 Highway, Evergreen, 28438.
NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer
questions and receive comments relative to the proposed project. The
opportunity to submit written comments or questions will also be provided.
Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above mentioned hours.
Please note there will be no formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to convert an existing at-grade intersection to an
interchange at the intersection of US 74/NC 130 and NC 242. The purpose of the
proposed project is to increase the safety of this intersection and to allow for the
future upgrade of US 74 to interstate standards.
A map setting forth the design of the project and a copy of the
environmental document -Environmental Assessment (EA) -are available for
public review at the NCDOT District Engineer's Office, located at 1194 Prison
Camp Road, Whiteville, 28472 and also at the Southeastern Community College
Library, L Building, located at 4564 Chadbourn Highway, Whiteville, 28472.
Anyone desiring additional information may contact Ms. Eileen Fuchs,

Additional comments may be submitted until June 27, 2008.
NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with
Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this hearing.

so that arrangements can be made.
