Subject: Hold, Shoreline Stabilization
Dear Mr. Rauch:
The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) received your application fora 401 Water Quality Certification
for the subject project on March 24, 2008. A site visit was conducted on April 10th. During the visit
several trees had been removed from within the buffer. It is evident that a couple of trees along the
shoreline could be removed. However, others trees further into the interior of the lot are our concern.
Following the conversation with you and Jonathan Edwards, I have been expecting more information prior
to issuing the approval for the stabilization project.
Until this matter can be resolved and pursuant to 15A NCAC 2H .0507(h), please be advised that this
project will be placed on hold. If you have photos of the trees prior to them being removed or other
information, that would be help. Otherwise, we require trees to be planted to replace those that were
removed. It is requested that a written response be submitted by May 15, 2008. If you have any
