Hello everyone. Please find attached a modification request to Coastal Yacht Hangars, LLC
located in Carteret County. The proposal is to enlarge the authorized wet slips, install 10
mooring pilings, and move the entire 10-slip docking facility to the south in order to prevent a
permanent shellfish closure. Could you please provide your comments for the modified proposal

SUBJECT: Coastal Yacht Hangar, State Permit #5-08
Please find enclosed a letter from Mrs. Ginger Turner requesting a minor permit modification.
State Permit #5-08 was issued on January 16, 2008 for the construction of a new ten-slip docking
facility, travel lift, dry stack, parking area, dredging, and shoreline stabilization on Core Creek at
1301 Sensation Way, in Carteret County. The permit is set to expire on December 31, 2011.
The applicant wishes to reconfigure and expand the proposed docking facility, by increasing the
slip width to 21' (as opposed to the 19' wide slips that were originally permitted). The applicant
would also like to add ten tie pilings. Each piling would be a distance of 15' from the ends of the
permitted finger piers. The applicant also wishes to move the entire ten-slip docking facility 15'
to the south of where it was originally permitted to avoid a permanent shellfish closure.
I would recommend that copies of this proposed modification be submitted to the NC Division of
Marine Fisheries, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the NC Division of Water Quality for
review and comments before issuing the Minor Modification to State Permit #5-08. A check in
the amount of $100 has been received to process the request.

Attached is a plan of the revised layout for the above referenced project requesting a minor
modification to CAMA Major #5-08. The revision request consists of the following:
1. The spacing between slips has been permitted for nineteen (19) feet and this request would increase
the width of the slip to twenty-one (21) feet.
2. Under the current permit there are no mooring pilings at the end of each forger pier and with this
request the owner would like to propose a mooring pile at the end of each of these fingers at a
distance of fifteen (15) feet from the ends. The addition of these pilings has forced the entire
docking system to be shifted fifteen (15) feet to the south to maintain the two hundred (200) feet
separation from the permitted "drop in" facility to prevent a possible shellfish closure.
