Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke Energy) is providing notification of scheduled hydro unit
maintenance at the Catawba-Wateree Hydro Project No. P-2232 (Project) Lookout Shoals
Development.
Duke Energy will perform trip testing on all five generator breakers at Lookout Shoals on
Wednesday, August 31, 2016, starting at 0800 hours. This will result in a loss of station
generation and no flow release for a very short period, which is expected to be less than 15
minutes.
This event is addressed under Maintenance and Emergency Protocol Abnormal Condition A. 1 —
Scheduled Hydro Unit Maintenance. Due to the anticipated short duration no environmental
impacts are expected, no Large Water Intake Owners or Downstream Effluent Dischargers will
be impacted, and the Lookout Shoals reservoir level will remain wn the required Normal
Minimum to Normal Maximum range. There are no required recreation flow releases at this
development. North Carolina resource agencies were notified of this event on August 22, 2016,
by copy of this letter and asked if additional consultation is necessary,
