• How long will the work take from start to finish?

• The plans submitted with the PCN indicate sediment removal downstream of the northern culvert which
carries the low flow channel. Can you expand upon this please. If this is the low flow channel then any
sediment removal in this area would be excavation/dredging rather than lowering of a bench/bar.
• Do you intend to grade the banks back or just lower the benches?
We just intend to lower the bench not excavate. Sorry for the confusion
• You indicate use of a turbidity curtain but is the channel deep enough to install one?
Probability not a traditional one. I have seen and installed more homemade curtains made from silt fence
material and straw bales that are very effective. I think this is more of a precaution than something that will be
needed. Most of the work will never contact live water.
• Your PCN and documents have a few statements that seem contradictory:
■ 3e of the PCN says that "to allow a bankful bench to form inside the culvert would
leave no room to pass even a small flood event", but then you state that "the contractor

will grade the sediment bars immediately upstream and downstream of the culvert down
to approximately 0.5' above the normal flow level" So are you leaving a floodplain
bench upstream and downstream or removing it to be flush with the culverts?
We plan to lower it flush with the culvert. This will still be out of the water and approximately at bankfull.
Please also submit a proposed profile view (existing profile might be beneficial too) of the low flow channel as
well as one for the other culverts, that may be a way to answer some of these questions, or make notes on the
view to answer the questions.
