This letter is in response to the Division of Water Quality request for additional information dated
February 29, 2008 regarding the final mitigation plan for Lonesome Valley. Clearwater Environmental
submitted Final stream restoration plans on February 11, 2008 indicated 570 linear feet of restoration and
include stream work, buffer planting, and preservation as shown on sheet 1 of 8 from Station 0+00 to 5+50
The plan set submitted on October 8, 2007 areas did not include any stream restoration work, buffer
planting, or preservation in the area shown as Station 0+00 to 1+00 (as shown on Sheets 1 of 8 and 3 of
8). This 130 foot section of Logan Creek was not included as part of the mitigation area on the October
17`'' submittal.
We believe that this helps clarify the discrepancy in mitigation and satisfies DWQ's need for further

GENERAL CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCE
Conslnlction shall be performed hr general accordance+rith the followurg sequence:
1. Construcliml access and a stagvLg area will be established ut the vicntit~ of the upper
end of the project Equipment and materials mill be mobilized to these locations.
2. Conswction will proceed upstream to downstremu. Temporan' sand bag coffer dams
will be installed upstream of each work arcs and flow in the work reach will be
diverted with a pump and piping. The length ofcach diccrsion will be approximately
311(1 to ~IIU linear feet.
3. Temporan stream crossings rill be installed at locators shown on the plans.
4 Reach 2 wnstructian imolvcs bath cnhanccment to the existing chanuel and creation
of new' off-lint channel. Flow diversions will be staged according to lengths ofsub-
rcachcs and site constraints.
i. Reach 3 constnrction will be similar to that proposed for reach I.
6. Clearing and grubbing w-ithin the grading limits will be pcrfonucd so as to limit
sediment migration off-site. Logs and root wads from feces larger than III inches in
diameter will be stockpiled for use in in-stream structures.

{doghobble, rhododendron, yellowroot, etc.), mats will be hen ested for transplanting.
These mats +rill be excavated and moved lm the barks of the ne+v channel sections.

plugs will be installed in areas where the new channel diverges from the orighral
channel, and the origh+al, abandoned channel sections will be backfilled.

during dewaterhtg operations ht the oll-lure sections will be diverted through a
sediment fdter before being disciuvged into the downstream reach.

stabilized by the end of the work day or before flow is divened info a new chmmel
segment
ll. Excess soil Inalerials will be stockpiled outside the floodplain u+ the staging areas,
with silt fence installed on the stream side(s) of the base of the stockpiles and
maintained when sediment has accunmlated above one third of the height of the silt
fence andlor the silt fence has failed. This excess material will be hauled outside the
conscn•ation easement or used to backfill abandoned channel before demobilization.
l2. The flow diversions and stream crossings will be removed when no longer needed
acrd the hanks in these areas stabilized with seeding mrd matting.
l3. Bald; and floodplahr vegetatbn, including brush materials and live stakes, wit( be
installed during dormant season. November to April.
14 Construction entrances; staging areas and silt fences will be removed once planthtg is
complete or once they are no bnger needed.
