Mac and I spoke today about Cheviot Hills and have the following comments (not addressing Katie's concerns):
We have concerns about the extent of the easement within the buffer, and it appears that approximately 60% of the
buffer will be left undisturbed (assuming a 40' easement). I believe that within reaches of the stream that cross the
sewer easement, the credit should be limited to 25% (consistent with prior guidance for older, pre -instrument projects).
For other areas, after discussing it with Mac, we can agree to a ratio of 3.5:1, which is based on the amount of buffer to
be impacted by the sewer and also the length of stream bank to be repaired. For the preservation reach, we can
compromise at a 7.5:1 ratio. Lastly, the bridge decks and structures should be removed from the easement if possible.

proposed. Once I get it, I will forward that information to you.

before DMS management to decide our next steps and also will include your comments as part of DMS comment to the
designer for inclusion in the Mitigation Plan.

Just following up on our conversation on Monday after the Piedmont Closeout Presentations. I'd like to meet with each
of you at the Cheviot Hills site in Wake County to go over DMS's most recent ideas/design for this site. I have attached
the Draft Mitigation Plan so you would have an opportunity to look over it before we meet. You will see that we are
looking at a very light handed approach and I just want to get your thoughts on the approach and our credit strategy. As
you know, this is a non -instrument project however DMS will submit this to the IRT for review as we have other similar
aged/type of projects recently, but I am looking for your thoughts and ideas a little bit earlier so that I can include them
with DMS's comments back to the design firm.
Please let me know of your available dates over the next couple of weeks. My availability over the next two weeks is:
6/28 - morning
6/29 - 7/1 - all day
