Subject:U-3645 Ray Road Harnett County
Joanne / Liz
The Ray Road project in Harnett County had experienced a 2.4 inch rainfall on Sunday. The project has one permit site
and it sustained a minor sheen of sediment / turbid water leaving the site. The discharge was just a film across the
wetland. No clean-up is proposed. The erosion control silt fence and special sediment fence was repaired and silt
removed from in from of the measures.
The borrow site suffered a sediment loss that was approximately 1 cu yd. The Sediment Basin (skimmer) overtopped
and the large flow blew out the rip-rap channel. Sediment traveled a hundred feet or so into a jurisdictional wetland /
stream. The contractor, Fred Smith, is working towards the removal of the material while repairing the erosion control
measures that failed.
I’ll try to stop out at the project today or tomorrow to review.
