Enclosed please find a set of plans identifying two areas along the shoreline of
Lake James in McDowell County, North Carolina that is eroding due to wind and
wave action. We are requesting permission to stabilize these two areas, totaling
285 linear feet, with biodegradable matting and native live staking.
We have met with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission on site to
discuss our stabilization methods and request additional methods and feedback.
The enclosed set of plans incorporates NC Wildlife comments and feedback.
This natural stabilization method will also be used to educate Lake James
residents and encourage natural and native shoreline stabilization techniques.
Please review the plans and respond in writing within 30 days as your response
is a requirement of the FERC. If you have any questions, please feel free to

Certification to impact FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) regulated lake shore or
bottom under the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Permit GP30. This Application cannot be used
