I took a sample at the new pond outfall for turbidity and observed turbid water from the pond outlet to the confluence with Reems Creek. Please update your construction plans ASAP to mitigate the discharge of turbid water to the creek. Please assess the stream within the next 10 days for additional sedimentation to the creek. Submit the results of your assessment to me. Contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Regards, Zan Price, P.E. We all understand that the ultimate goal of the meeting and this process is to ensure that no silt is deposited in the stream. Method and protection measures: • SDC will drain the pond through the adjacent Temporary Sediment Basin (TSB) • SDC will pump water from the surface of the pond and onto a matted and rip -rap dispersion pad in the TSB to allow pond water to gravity drain though the skimmer in the TSB and out to the creek. • Pumping activities will be put on hold prior to significant forecast rain events to allow the TSB to function as designed. • A minimal flow will be kept in the creek to ensure it does not dry out completely. • Polyacrylamide flocculants will be used if the pond water becomes too turbid while draining activities are ongoing. (Zan to email list of approved products.) • Dam relocation and sanitary sewer installation will occur at the same time, and will be stabilized as soon as the work is complete. • The rip rap spillway will be relocated as necessary during these construction activities to allow for both ongoing construction activities and dewatering as necessary. • The outfall of the new pond drain will be installed in the same location as the existing pipe, but the invert will be installed to match the existing stream elevation. • CDC will be onsite during these activities periodically to observe and work with contractor to ensure all the above measures are being implemented. • SDC plans to keep a log of activities onsite. • Atlas Environmental, Inc. will observe sedimentation in the creek prior to the work and after work is finished verify that the dewatering activities did not impact the stream. Please add to or comment on anything I have miscommunicated or omitted from our meeting onsite. We look forward to working with everyone involved to make this portion of the project run as smoothly as possible. Thank you for your help, Jason Pass Civil Design Concepts, P.A.
