The Division of Water Resources received the Year 3 Monitoring Report for the above -
referenced site submitted February 2016 by Division of Mitigation Services (DMS). In addition, on
June 10, 2016, 1 conducted an inspection of the Restoration Site.
Vegetation success criteria for this site is an average density of 320 stems per acre of Character
Tree Species surviving after five monitoring years. As indicated in the Year 3 Monitoring Report,
overall the site has met site -wide average success criteria for Monitoring Year 3, however two
vegetation plots (8 and 10) did not meet MY3 success criteria. As discussed during the site visit,
additional tree planting occurred in winter 2016 in areas that were not meeting MY3 vegetation
success along UT2 and UT3. It has been noted that Johnsongrass has populated throughout
much of the site. This invasive should be closely monitored and a plan to address these species
should be considered if it impacts the vigor or success of the planted trees.
During the site visit the upper 400 feet of UT4 was reviewed with regards to subjectivity to the
Randleman Buffer Rules. It is recommended that the channel be reviewed during winter of MY5
for final determination of potential credit.
