Subject: MacGregor Pump Station Elimination Project (SW1168)
Dear Madam:
mk 2 l 2016
Please find (3) copies of the site plan for the MacGregor Drive Pump Station
Elimination Project along with the buffer authorization forms and supporting
documentation.
The removal of existing sewer pump stations in lieu of gravity sewers is a top
priority for the Town of Cary. The MacGregor Pump Station and nearby gravity
sewer currently resides in Zone 1 and 2. The station footprint and two gravity
sewer manholes are very close to the creek. All areas will return to natural cover
once the demolition of the station is complete. See Attachment "A" for detailed
map of Zone impacts and removals
This project's proposed gravity sewer was designed to cross the stream buffers
perpendicular. The sewer line to be bored does not cross the stream
perpendicular; it must cross US HWY 1 perpendicular per NCDOT requirements.
All the area in the temporary impacts for the gravity sewer installation are grassy
or stone driveway. All stone driveway areas will return to natural cover once the
sewer installation is complete.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to review the plans. Please call my direct
line at 919-380-2760 or email me at Jamie.bissonnette(cDtownofcary.orq if you
require any further information.
Sincerely,
Jamie P. Bissonnette, P.E.

1 c. Comments: New proposed gravity sewer was designed to cross the stream buffers perpendicular. The sewer
line to be bored does not cross the stream perpendicular, it must cross US HWY 1 perpendicular per NCDOT
requirements. All the area in the temporary impacts for the gravity sewer installation is grassy or stone drive.
Note all the stone driveway inside the buffer areas will be removed and returned to natural cover.
Utility, Non -electric, Perpendicular crossings - impacts to Zone 1 and 2 are allowable according to 15A NCAC
02b .0233 - Neuse River Basin: Protection and maintenance of existing riparian buffers
The MacGregor Pump Station and nearby gravity sewer currently resides in Zone 1 and 2. Did not list the
removal and demo of station as new impacts. This footprint of the station and 2 gravity sewer manholes very
close to the creek will be removed and returned to natural ground cover. See Attachment "A" for detailed map
of Zone impacts and removals.
D. Impact Justification and Mitigation
1. Avoidance and Minimization
1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing project.
The new gravity sewer was designed to intercept the existing gravity sewer perpendicular to the stream. The
section of sewer bored under US HWY 1 was extended to reach under the stream as well. This will allow
construction with no direct impact to the stream bed.
1 b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction
techniques. Bore and Jack sewer line under the stream will allow construction with no open cut impacts to the
stream.
