Dear Dr. Thorpe:
Reference the Department of the Army permit issued to you on January 17, 2007, for Section
B of the U.S. Highway 17 Washington Bypass project (R-2510B), from south of S.R. 1149 (Price
Road) to U.S. 17 north of S.R. 1509 (Springs Road) and your written request of May 23, 2007,
for permit modification to waive culvert installation requirements and change culvert design at
Culvert 2A, on Ramp B of the N.C. 33 interchange in Chocowinity, Beaufort County, North
Carolina. Due to changes in the natural environment the culvert as originally designed does not
comply with special condition (p) of the subject permit.
The permit is hereby modified to include the work as shown on the enclosed plans. It is
understood that all conditions of the original permit remain applicable and that the expiration
date is unchanged.
