Hello, Brent.
I have looked into the macrobenthos monitoring that was suggested by DWQ for the
Stone Farm mitigation bank. It is suggested that you have the monitoring done by
someone who has earned a certificate of training through a course that covers the
stream biology, identification, and monitoring methods utilized by DWQ. There are
many people in the NC consulting realm (perhaps even at LMG) who have been through
these courses.
Minimum requirements for sampling points would be:
1 on Hunters Creek near the inlet to the project site
1 on Hunters Creek near the outlet from the project site
1 on the Main Stem near the outlet from the project site
1 in the stream reference reach, for comparison with data from the project site
Minimum monitoring frequency would be:
1 pre-construction monitoring event
1 post-construction monitoring event
1 event annually during monitoring years 3, 4, and 5
Hope this is helpful. Feel free to contact me or Eric Kulz (919-715-9050) with aray
questions. As part of the MBRT, we're looking forward to working with you toward
success of this mitigation project.
Kind regards,
Tammy Hill
