HomeMy WebLinkAbout20081473 Ver 4_Arrington buffer remediation complete_Phase II_20160623res Memo To: Katie Merritt, DWR From: Brian Hockett , RES cc: File Date: June 22, 2016 Arrington Bridge Phase II — Year 3 Monitoring Re: Remediation Work Memo #2 Per the November 3, 2015 email response from Katie Merritt (DWR) referencing the Year 3 monitoring report for the Arrington Bridge Phase II Bank Parcels, RES is providing a written response of action for remediation as requested. 1. A supplemental planting plan which shall include 1) a proposed deadline to complete the replanting, 2) a commitment to flag all stems that will be planted, 3) a commitment to provide post -planting pictures of the replanted areas, 4) stem count data for Plots 1 & 4 post planting. RES staff has taken action to remediate the easement encroachment of 0.81 acres at the Arrington Bridge Phase II Bank Parcel. A supplemental planting was performed in the month of February 2016 for all encroachment areas and buffer areas below success criteria stem densities (Plots 1 and 4). As requested by DWR, all supplemental tree stems planted in the encroachment areas and Vegetation Plots 1 and 4 were flagged with marking tape. After supplemental planting, Vegetation Plot 1 has a total of 17 stems (688 trees/acre) and Vegetation Plot 4 has a count of 14 stems (566 trees/acre). Photo documentation of these areas are provided below. As part of RES's active preventative action, in mid-October 2015 RES planted 3 -gallon container trees along the easement edge and posted additional easement marking signs. Our intentions is that planting larger trees along the boundary will help to provide a visual boundary between the agriculture fields and the conservation easement. RES has also discussed with the landowner and persons responsible for the easement encroachment to assure it doesn't happen again. Photos of the tree plantings and additional easement signage are provided below. At this time, RES has performed all requested remedial action items and is requesting the remaining 5% credit release for MY3 from the Arrington Bridge II site. Please let me know if you have additional concerns or questions about our remedial actions.
