Your application dated May 16, 2016, was received by the Division of Water Resources on
June 13, 2016. The request was for the approval a shoreline stabilization plan. However, based
on the photo(s) submitted, the issue appears to be erosion due to storm water runoff and not a
lake effect. The buffer has been cleared and because of the steep slope, maintaining integrity of
the lot is an issue. A buffer enhancement plan may be more appropriate to stabilize the slope
leading to the shoreline/lake. Establishment of low growing native species trees and shrubs to
provide canopy cover and root mass would be more appropriate.
Please be advised that this project has been placed on hold pursuant to 15A NCAC 2H
.0507(h) until an alternative plan provided, or more information to support the existing proposal
is received. Failure to submit the requested information by August 16, 2016, may result in this
project being withdrawn from consideration and you will have to reapply at a later date with the
appropriate fee.
