Michael and Heather,
Confirming the conversation we had with Amy Chapman, DWQ, this afternoon, Amy is putting our
variance application on hold until we amend the application to address the nutrient treatment of storm
water run off from the impervious asphalt surface that infringes in the buffer. We have a few options
that were briefly discussed.
1. Use pervious asphalt for the added row of parking (which infringes on the buffer) and prepare
the required maintenance plan that Central Prison's staff would have to follow.
2. Provide some sort of planting area, the size of which would be determined by the amount of
impervious surface planned for the buffer, to treat the storm water nutrients.
3. Collect the storm water runoff from the expanded parking lot and introduce it into the existing
storm sewer piping at a point outside of the buffer area.
Amy will be away the first three days of next week but will address our amendment when she returns
on Thursday. Please forward you written remedial plan and any required drawings to me so 1 can
deliver them to DWQ's office before the end of the day on Wednesday, September 26th
