Please revise as necessary for consistency; Please modify the swales to ensure a flow velocity of less than or equal to 2 feet per second (current design is for 2.1 fps and 2.4 fps on swales 1 and 2, respectively). Two feet per second is considered the maximum non-erosive velocity for this review; For swale 1, the calcs indicate a bottom width of 6 ft and top width of 7.5 ft and side slope of 3:1. Swale 2 calcs similarly indicate bottom width of 8.5 ft, top width of 10 ft and side slope of 3:1. A 3:1 side slope is not possible with the given dimensions. Please provide clarification or revise. Thank you. Attached is a stormwater management plan for Lot 126 and a Low Density Supplement Form. The approach is to discharge all roof gutter drains and sheet flow from the upper part of the driveway into the grassed yard area around the house. This water will collect and be conveyed off-site through broad grassed swales. These swales have longitudinal slopes greater than 10% but we calculated 10 -yr. velocity and sheer stress (tractive force) and both will easily handle the 10 -yr. flow. Runoff from the lower portion of the driveway will sheet flow directly to grassed areas or natural forested areas. Please let me know if you have any questions or require additional information. The DWR has determined that your application is incomplete and cannot be processed. The application is on -hold until the following information is received: 1. Per Water Quality General Certification No. 3890, this project is required to provide a stormwater management plan (SMP) to protect water quality (regardless of project area or amount of impervious area). Please see Appendix A of the General Certification, available here, and submit a plan that is in accordance with low density project stormwater requirements. Alternatively, you may provide a copy of the locally reviewed SMP with proof of approval if the jurisdiction is certified for 401 stormwater management plan reviews. Pursuant to Title 15A NCAC 02H .0502, the applicant shall furnish all of the above requested information for the proper consideration of the application. If all of the requested information is not received within 30 calendar days of receipt of this email, the DWR will be unable to approve the application and it will be returned.
