Anneliese,
Since the bank and tree canopy was not disturbed during construction, DWR is in agreement with your request not to
live stake in this area.

Subject: U-3810 Piney Green Road mitigation site
Stephen, Mason, and Brad,
Section 5 of the attached On-site Mitigation Plan for U-3810 (Piney Green Rd from NC 24 to US 17) states that, “The
northern bank of the tributary to Little Northeast Creek will be planted on three foot centers with live stakes of silky
dogwood (Cornus amomum) and black willow (Salix nigra).”
Since this bank was not disturbed during the excavation of the mitigation site, and therefore is sufficiently vegetated,
NCDOT would like to delete the live staking requirement of silky dogwood and black willow from the On-site
Mitigation Plan. An approximate location of this bank is shown in the hatched area on the attached plan sheet and is
also shown in the attached photo of the northern bank (taken 12/2/2015).
Could you please “reply all” to this email that you are in agreement with this proposal?
One note of clarification is that the On-site Mitigation Plan calls for the bank of the tributary to Little Northeast Creek to
be planted. However, the main waterbody which flows under the bridge at this site appears to be correctly called Little
Northeast Creek according to the NC surface water classifications map and USGS topo maps.
Thank you,
Anneliese
