Hey Ginny,
This is the information sent regarding the response I included you on earlier. We (DOT, DWR, Corps & DCM) visited the
site during our U-3810 inspection last week. The site looks good and trees were planted in March 2015 and finished up
this past March. The preexisting canopy along the creek bank was left intact during construction in coordination with
the agencies to maintain the stability of the bank.

Subject: U-3810 Piney Green Road mitigation site
Stephen, Mason, and Brad,
Section 5 of the attached On-site Mitigation Plan for U-3810 (Piney Green Rd from NC 24 to US 17) states that, “The
northern bank of the tributary to Little Northeast Creek will be planted on three foot centers with live stakes of silky
dogwood (Cornus amomum) and black willow (Salix nigra).”
Since this bank was not disturbed during the excavation of the mitigation site, and therefore is sufficiently vegetated,
NCDOT would like to delete the live staking requirement of silky dogwood and black willow from the On-site
Mitigation Plan. An approximate location of this bank is shown in the hatched area on the attached plan sheet and is
also shown in the attached photo of the northern bank (taken 12/2/2015).
Could you please “reply all” to this email that you are in agreement with this proposal?
One note of clarification is that the On-site Mitigation Plan calls for the bank of the tributary to Little Northeast Creek to
be planted. However, the main waterbody which flows under the bridge at this site appears to be correctly called Little
Northeast Creek according to the NC surface water classifications map and USGS topo maps.
Thank you,
Anneliese
