Well at long last, I have finally found time to review the CD that Harlan sent to me
about four months ago. Again I apologize for the lengthy delay in reviewing this
information. Rick Savage and I sat down this afternoon to review it.
Unfortunately, there are even more questions from the CD and map file than there
are answers so I cannot yet make any definitive conclusion about the proper
alignment of Six Forks Road. The questions are listed below but I think we need to
meet to discuss them and get resolution on the issue. As luck (good or bad) would
have it, my meeting next Friday (July 27) has been canceled so my entire day is free
for the moment. I suggest that we meet here in the Parkview Building starting at 9
am on July 27 to discuss these questions. My schedule is full for the end of this
week and Monday thru Thursday next week so this is the first time I and Rick can
meet. Here are the questions and they all relate to the CD file that was sent.
1. Where are the boundaries of the wetlands north of Crabtree Creek? We can find
the wetland line but I know that wetlands do not extend all the way to Crabtree
Creek but the map appears to indicate that. The wetland polygons are not closed
off so we cannot determine where the wetlands are located.
2. Where is Crabtree Creek on the map? The map shows what I think is Crabtree
Creek but it is not labeled as such. Also is the line (assuming it is Crabtree
Creek), the middle of the creek or the northern stream bank? Where is the alignment
of the southern stream bank of Crabtree Creek on the north side of the Hodges Road?
3. Where is the proposed road alignment? The map shows some of the existing roads
but does not show the proposed alignment.
4. Where does the proposed road tie into Hodges Street? Again Hodges Road shows up
on the map but the other streets in the vicinity south of Hodges do not show up.
Eric Lamb from the city may have a better map in this regard:
5. where are the existing buildings (mainly Department of Corrections buildings
but there is a private warehouse as well). The location of these buildings
obviously affects the possible alignments but they do not show up on the CD file.
We do have the GPS layer for the wetland that Jamie delineated and Rick GPS'ed and
Rick can send that to you if you need it. If so, please email Rick and he can
figure out how best to get it to you. He is going to merge his delineation map with
your map but the missing information as outlined above makes that problematic.
Please advise as to whether you can meet next week Friday. Hopefully with the above
basic questions answered and Rick/Jamie's GPS map, we can make a decision about the
location of Six Forks Extension. Thankx
