I am writing in support of yc~rr application to the North Carolina Department of Nabors! Resources Diuisiai of Land
Resources (DLR) to expand the AvonlKinr~keet sand mine in Avon, Dare County, North Carolina.
As you know sand from Otis mine was ~l in the impiemerltation at Qt7Tproject NC 12 Rebeafbn (Buxton)
ar-d Dune Repler-ishrrlentdsring April - November 2004. This NCDOT Dare County Project entailed the relacatlon of
18,000 tandem truck loads cf QOT - I~partmsnt of interior approved sand from the Kmnakest mine to the dune line
north of Buxton, N.C.
Tt>is sand carne from the only mine on Halberds ~d ~ntaining US Park Service and NCDOT approved,
eornp~ible material for Dune Res6oration in ttre Cape Hatteras Natklrral Seashore. NCDOT tested the sibs via 100x
