The JS lines depict the edge of water. Driving the H-pile will not create a turbidity issue. You might see a slight dust up when it’s first placed but that should be it. It would also just be a minor displacement of bed material that’s already in the creek. We could extend the causeway around the H- pile location but installing and removing that will be much worse. It appears from the drawing that the causeway will extend across the entire stream channel. If that is the case, how will DOT manage stream flow? During pile driving operations in Mulberry Creek, how will DOT manage potential turbidity? Dave W. Sorry for any confusion. An aerial sanitary sewer will be installed parallel to the new bridge on the south side of Site 13. It is necessary to drive one H-pile in the middle of Mulberry Creek to support the sewer line. That will result in about 2 square feet of permanent fill. A 15’x20’ temporary causeway (0.007 acres) will be needed to make a pad for the crane to drive the pile. WBS is 36001.3.2. I’ve attached a link to the issued permits. https://xfer.services.ncdot.gov/pdea/PermIssued/R-2603%20Wilkes%20July%2021%202015.pdf The “Utility Causeway” attachment shows a sketch of what we are talking about. Please let me know if you want to modify the permit or simply note this in the file due to the low impact.
