Your cooperation during the site visit was much appreciated. Please advise the staff involved with this NPDES Permit by forwarding a copy of the enclosed report. After further review of the Transit Time Flow Meter—Model TTFM 1.0, it was confirmed that the flow meter does need to be calibrated yearly. Calibration can be done in-house but must be completed annually. The report should be self-explanatory; however, should you have any questions concerning this report, please do not hesitate to contact Ori Tuvia at (704) 235-2190, or at ori.tuvia@ncdenr.gov. The ten(10)recovery wells are paired as an air sparge and pump system. The wells are connected to the remediation trailer through a network of trenches. Influent water enters the remediation building and is first directed through a series of bags filters. The size of the filters range between 50 to 100 microns. These bag filters collect the suspended solids out of the influent water. The water is then sent to a four(4)tray air stripper which completes the removal of the chlorinated solves. Effluent water is collected from a sampling port located after the stripper tower. There is a 1000 gallon holding tank located out-side of the remediation building that is used to collect the extracted water while the system is being serviced. Water can be sent to the system from this tank on an as called for basis. This allows the system to continuously run during system maintenance. Effluent water is discharged into a near site storm drain that discharges to an unnamed tributary of Little Sugar Creek. The direction of groundwater flow across the site appears to the southeast. There are eighteen(18) monitoring wells on site where water levels are regularly measured. A request was made to be provided with the average depth to water across the site. Additional information requested during this inspection includes the area of influence the remediation system and a copy of a recent manifest for the disposal of the spend filter bags.
